Dental Plan Options

You can choose from two dental plans through Delta Dental: The Premier Plan and Value Plan. For an overview of the benefits provided under each option, see the Benefits & Beyond Interactive Guide.

Delta Dental Providers

Peraton’s dental plan options are preferred provider organizations (DPPOs). This means you can choose to receive care from a dental provider who is part of a network or from a provider outside the network. The plans cover the same services; however, the difference is that your out-of-pocket costs will likely be lower when you use an in-network dental provider.

There are two types of network dentists—Delta Dental PPO and Delta Dental Premier. You will likely pay lower out-of-pocket costs if you use a Delta Dental PPO dentist. To see if your dental provider is part of the Delta Dental PPO or Premier network go to deltadentalva.com and click on Members, then Find a Dentist.

The Delta Dental Plan offers a Special Health Care Needs benefit for Delta Dental Premier or Value Plan members with intellectual, emotional, and developmental challenges* to provide the care they need at no additional cost. This benefit provides:‌

  • Exams: Unlimited extra exam benefits are included for additional visits with the dentist that may be necessary to help patients understand what to expect prior to treatment, up to the annual benefit maximum.‌
  • Cleanings: Up to four dental cleanings per year are covered.‌
  • Treatment delivery modifications: Receive general anesthesia for exams and/or cleanings, when necessary for dental staff to provide oral health care for patients with sensory sensitivities, behavioral challenges, severe anxiety or other barriers to treatment.

*Eligibility for the special health care needs benefit are those conditions that the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry defines as any physical, developmental, mental, sensory, behavioral, cognitive, emotional impairment or limiting condition that requires medical management, health care intervention, and/or the use of specialized services or programs. The condition may be congenital, developmental, or acquired through disease, trauma or environmental cause, and may impose limitations in performing daily activities.
