When You Can Enroll

You have three opportunities to enroll in benefits:

  • At the time of your hire
  • During annual benefits enrollment
  • Following a qualifying life event (QLE)

QLEs include (but are not limited to):

  • Marriage
  • Divorce
  • Birth of a child
  • Adoption/placement for adoption
  • Loss of other coverage
  • Gain of other coverage

  • You must request the change in your election within 60 days1 of the event by entering your new elections in the Benefits & Beyond Enrollment Portal, powered by bswift.
  • Coverage will be effective on the date of the event.

  • Changes to HSAs and FSAs begin the first of the month, following the event date.

1. If you are enrolled in the HMSA or Triple S medical plan or Life or Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance and want to make a change due to a QLE, you must request the change in your election within 30 days of the event.
